Susan Palys
I make paintings of places, the natural world and semi-abstract subjects using a variety of water media. I work in a realistic, emotive style that is inspired by memories, travel experiences and nature so that the beauty that is present in everyday life is “center stage” and can provide a calm, restorative and hopeful moment to viewers.
My art education began in high school and continued at Buffalo State College, where I earned a BS in Art Education. Teaching art in private, elementary schools and in community education kept my art journey alive, while I worked in public service for 20 years. Upon retirement, I dedicated my efforts to pursuing the art career of my dreams.
My professional memberships include Juried Artists status, in Watercolor, of the Arts & Craftsmen Guild of The Historic Roycroft Campus; Exhibiting Member status in the Buffalo Society of Artists; Signature Member Status of Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society.
Additional memberships I am active in include the Fine Arts League of Buffalo, The West Seneca Art Society and the East Aurora Art Society.
Juried exhibitions which included my work are: Kenan Center Niagara Frontier Regional Artists Exhibition; The 123rd,124th, & 126 Catalogue Exhibition of Buffalo Art Society; multiple Exhibitions of the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society; and the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society Fall 2020, Spring 2021 Member’s Water Media Exhibitions.
River Arts Gallery an North Tonawanda, The Colden Art Festival and Western New York Artist Group Gallery in Buffalo have featured my artwork and Ten Thousand Vines Winery in Hamburg New York hosted a solo exhibition of my work in 2019.
